Science Olympiad · Elementary practice

Elementary Science Olympiad practice, built from the rules.

For kids in grades 3–6 prepping for a Science Olympiad tournament, on a school team or on their own. Pick the tournament and the events, and the practice matches what those rules ask — not a generic science quiz. Two topics free, no credit card. We are not affiliated with any tournament or with Science Olympiad Inc.

§01 / How practice works here

Four things, in the order a kid meets them.

Each one is scoped to the event as the organizers wrote it.

  • Practice setsQuestions in the format the event actually uses — multiple choice, short answer, identification, a timed relay — written from the tournament’s published rules. For most events they come from a bank of questions we have reviewed; a few hands-on events generate their questions on the spot.
  • Timed drills and Test dayPentathlon and Science Jeopardy run as timed multi-topic sets. For the seven Bay Area ESO theory events, Test day is the event’s real paper on the organizers’ clock: its question count, one submit, marked the way the rules mark it.
  • My report cardAfter each set, the card shows where your kid stands in every event, broken down by the specific things it tests, with their own papers listed oldest to newest. Each row has a door that says what it opens: a practice set on that exact subtopic, or the audio lesson for it. Free on every plan.
  • Audio lessonsShort episodes read from the event rules, one for each thing an event asks a kid to know — for the car or for quiet time. Free on every plan; Bay Area ESO events have them today.
§02 / The tournaments

Practice by tournament, event by event.

Two today. Each tournament’s page lists every event, what it asks, and what we have for it.

§04 / Questions parents ask

The six a parent usually asks first.

Q·01Is OlyPrep the official Science Olympiad?
No. OlyPrep is an independent prep tool built by a parent. It is not affiliated with Science Olympiad Inc., MESO, Science Gurus or any tournament organizer. The practice is written from the rules each organizer publishes.
Q·02Which tournaments does it cover?
MESO, the Milpitas Elementary Science Olympiad, and Science Gurus’ Bay Area Elementary Science Olympiad — every event of each. Other tournaments are added on parent request at no extra cost; requests set the order.
Q·03What grades is it for?
The tournaments we cover run grades 1–6 and 3–6, and the app is written for kids in that range: plain wording, and an AI coach that explains at grade level and stays inside the event’s scope. A parent signs up and owns the account; the kid does the practice.
Q·04How much can we do for free?
Two topics, with a monthly allowance of practice sets, coach chats, study notes and custom audio episodes. The report card, the event episode library and the Cipher Lab have no cap on any plan. No credit card, ever, on the Free plan.
Q·05Does it work on a school Chromebook?
It runs in the browser on Chromebooks, iPads, phones and laptops, with nothing to install. Some school-managed Chromebooks block outside sites or the verification email, so a personal email and a home device is the smoother path.
Q·06How do we start?
Create a free account, pick your kid’s tournament, then pick up to two events. The first time an event opens it starts on its Overview, and the report card fills in from the first practice set.
